This August, Harley-Davidson revved up to celebrate its 110th birthday with a celebration of awesome proportions. Taking place from August 29th through September 1st in Milwaukee, Harley-Davidson’s historic anniversary was a multi-faceted, weekend-long celebration.
Aside from the opportunity to spend a few days hanging out with fellow Harley enthusiasts and motorcycle accident lawyers, this festival featured the release of a new line of Harley bikes, musical performances from some of today’s biggest stars and a UFC fight you won’t want to miss.
The musical entertainment for the event spanned three days and was headlined by Toby Keith, Aerosmith and Kid Rock. Each one of the aforementioned musical artists performed a show individually, with different performances taking place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
In terms of purchasing tickets, you were able to buy individual tickets for a particular performance or buy a pass for the entire festival depending upon your personal preferences. The festival passes were also tiered, with two-day and three-day options available.
In addition to the separately-ticketed musical performances mentioned above, the Summerfest grounds in Milwaukee hosted over 60 other bands throughout the course of the four day festival. Regardless of the location that you prefer or the music you’re interested in, one of these options surely suited your needs.
In addition to the musical performances earlier in the week, Saturday night was highlighted by the UFC® 164 Harley-Davidson Hometown Throwdown. This UFC event saw Milwaukee’s own Anthony Pettis challenge Benson Henderson in this lightweight title defense, with a staggering win by Henderson, 31:4.
While it may be the fight that everyone is talking about, the lightweight title defense was just one of many other fights to take place as a part of the Hometown Throwdown. The event is riddled with Milwaukee natives looking to earn a victory in front of their hometown fans.
Vending areas were set-up at which you can purchase commemorative 110th anniversary gear to help Harley-Davidson celebrate this historic occasion. Harley-Davidson has created an extensive line of 110th anniversary apparel that includes leather jackets, tee shirts, sweatshirts and other items. For fans who couldn’t make it to Milwaukee, you can purchase these items online and join in on the celebration at home.
Project Rushmore Bikes
Another cool aspect of the upcoming festival was Harley’s unveiling of its Project Rushmore bikes, a new line of motorcycles designed with the tastes and preferences of riders in mind. The 110th anniversary celebration was the first time that riders were able to demo the new bikes and to experience their new features.
With this wide array of entertainment and Harley-related hype motorcycle enthusiasts were brimming with excitement. A video posted by Today’s TMJ4 reflectws the excitement that Harley fans felt all over the world. The video displays tents going up for what was described as a weeklong block party, home videos shot by motorcyclists on the open road and interviews with excited locals in Milwaukee.
Aside from the organized and officially ticketed aspects of this event, people were able to enjoy a variety of other amenities and experience the local culture. Bars and restaurants will be packed with fellow riders, the streets were lined with people on Saturday for a Harley-Davidson parade and free street parties took place across the city. Whether you wished to enjoy an organized show or to simply discover your own entertainment, you certainly wouldn’t have been at a loss for things to do.
