Cheap Car Insurance for Bad Drivers

The drivers who find it incredibly difficult to find cheap car insurance are bad drivers. The bad drivers’ category usually comprises those people who have a less than stellar driving record, and some insurance companies will refuse to even consider insuring these drivers. But rest assured because it’s still possible for these drivers to find low insurance premiums.

What is a Bad Driver?

A bad driver, as viewed by the insurance firms, is a driver who has a history of traffic offenses and who has shown no signs of improvement in the past. In other words, they are basically like nuclear waste to insurance companies. A bad driver may have one of the following issues:

A number of unpaid traffic fines.

Has caused one or more serious accidents in the last few months.

Has had a history of fines from traffic violations; including parking and speeding tickets.

What Can a Bad Driver Do?

A bad driver has a number of options available to them, but the best options are just to lower the premiums by making changes to themselves and their driving habits. The following factors are major influences when it comes to the size of auto insurance premiums:

Change the car.

Install security measures.

Take a course.

Compare and contrast

Change the Car

If a driver has a history of serious accidents and they choose to drive a $100,000 car then the chances of finding cheap auto insurance are slim to nothing. But if they decide to drive a car worth about $1,000 then the insurance company will consider providing a policy to be of a lesser risk to the insurance firm’s coffers. In response, they will certainly provide a policy with a lower premium.

Install Security Measures

Security measures are defined as devices and gadgets which improve the personal safety of the driver and reduce the chances of the car being stolen or damaged.

When it comes to the personal safety of the driver there are a number of common safety devices including: airbags, anti-lock brakes, and automatic seat belts. Remember, if a crash occurs and the driver is saved by an airbag then the insurance company won’t have to pay out as much in costs.

The safety of the car is all about simply protecting it from harm. This can be done by storing the car in a secure location like a garage or using curb scrapers to protect the paintwork of the car. A car alarm will also be a worthy addition to any car.

Take a Course

One way of reducing the premiums is to communicate a message to the insurance firm that the driver in question is attempting to change their bad habits. This can be done by passing a safety course which will refresh all of the main driving techniques. And this is sure to reduce the premiums on any auto insurance policy.

Compare and Contrast

Even if all of the above measures are used, sometimes it’s just not possible to get the best price. But there is a way around this. If the price isn’t right then simply use another insurance company. Other insurance companies and their prices can be compared by using an online comparison site.

To use an online comparison site simply

1. Open up one’s internet browser and navigate to Google.

2. Perform a Google search to bring up a number of available comparison sites.

3. Follow the specific instructions for each individual comparison site, but remember to use multiple comparison sites because this way the individual can obtain the most accurate results.

Three Ways to Scrap Your Car for the Best Value

Three Ways to Scrap Your Car for the Best ValueThere are a number of reasons you may want to get rid of your car. If it is not running, many people believe their cars to be junk and essentially worthless. This is untrue, however, as even if a car is not running and is considered junk, it is still worth something as scrap. Scrap yards buy junk cars all the time to either sell for scrap themselves or break the parts down and sell those to auto part stores and those looking for hard to find, or cheaper parts for a new build. There are a number of ways you can prepare your car for getting it scrapped, but a few things can increase the value of your car. Here are three ways regarding how to scrap your car and get the best value .

Part Your Car Out

Selling a car to a scrap or salvage yard means you will be given money based on the weight and value of the metal. That does not include everything inside of the car. One of the best ways to get the most money for your effort is to part your car out and sell the metal to the scrap yard. This may not be possible for cars that are beyond repair, but for those that do not have too much wrong with them or still run, make sure to strip everything down to the bare metal. This will ensure that you have all of the parts you are going to sell to other people. The value of each part can increase the amount of money you make from one car tremendously. You need to make sure you are careful when taking the engine out, the wiring of the car, the stereo system, and everything else.

Use the Internet

There are a number of different websites that offer competitive rates for the car you wish to scrap. If you want to know how to scrap your car and get the best value, this method may be best because of the simple fact that there are many offers for scrapped cars that can be compared at once.  You can find them simply by looking them up through a major search engine. Websites such as National Scrap Car allow you to get a quote almost instantly. You will find it is as easy as entering a few details about your car and then obtaining a quote. For many of these types of websites you will be able to get the quote and arrange to have it picked up and get paid very quickly. The best part about using this type of method is you will find the best price for your car you wish to sell for scrap. It is important to know that some of the higher quality companies will offer to pick your car up for you that way you do not have to take as much time out of your day.

Donation

This may sound counterproductive or unprofitable, but giving the car to charity can actually help you get a bit of extra money. This comes as a tax write off when you give your car away. You will be able to help someone else and get paid when your refund comes. It is very important to understand that while this is not an immediate profit the benefit is twofold, as helping someone else can be very rewarding and you still get paid through the government. Many people may find this method attractive for those reasons.

All you Need to Know about Applying for an Accident Claim

Claiming compensation for a personal injury is the right of anyone that has been injured sometime in the last three years through no fault of their own, providing their injuries warranted medical attention. If you find yourself in this situation you might want to apply now to make a personal injury claim, but before you do, here are a few facts about making a claim and the law firm to chose for assistance.

·Approximately only half of innocent victims make personal injury claims because they think it will be too costly, too stressful or take too long.  These are common misconceptions.

· The length of time your claim takes depends on if the case had to go to court or not.  Most claims are settled before they reach that stage, some claimants receiving their compensation in just a few weeks.

·Making a claim is time consuming and complicated for the inexperienced, but for specialist injury claim lawyers it is all they do every day, and they will keep the stress away from the victim.

The Perils of Riding in a New York City Taxi

The Perils of Riding in a New York City Taxi

New York City - Time Square - Yellow Cab

It can be said that a New York taxi ride will never be dull. Traffic, pedestrians, and weather can all make your ride chaotic, if not a bit risky. Road hazards, other passengers, and even the driver himself can make taking a taxi an extreme sport. It is not unusual for someone, at some point in their lives, to be involved in an accident while riding in a cab.

If You Are Involved In An Accident While Riding In A Taxi

If you are involved in a car accident while riding in a cab, you should take the following steps to make sure that your rights are protected:

File An Accident Report. Make sure that the accident is reported to the appropriate authorities. This includes filing a report with the police and requesting that a report is filed with the cab company.

Get Cab Information. Make sure that the name and number of the cab is listed on the report and that you have all the relevant information about the cab driver and the company. While this should be included in the police report, you want to make sure that it is listed.

Consult With A Personal Injury Attorney. You will need to consult with an accident attorney as soon as possible after the event to protect your rights as an injured party. It is very important that you allow your attorney to handle all of the interactions with the insurance company so that you receive full and fair compensation for your injuries. If you do not have an attorney a simple Internet search like ‘car accident lawyer Manhattan’ will provide you with a very long list of resources.

Seek Medical Care. Request medical care at the scene of the accident. It is very important that you receive medical care at this point. Any delay could cause the insurance company to question when or how an injury occurred. Even if the injury seems minor, request a medical evaluation. Sometimes small injuries can quickly escalate into something big, such as concussions.

Do Not Provide Any Recorded Statements To The Insurer. It is not uncommon for the insurance carrier to send out a representative to talk to you while you are still in the emergency room. Politely decline making any statements until your health is stabilized and you have consulted with an attorney. These insurers are trying to get you to release them from obligation of your injures while you are still disoriented from the accident.

Refrain From Posting Too Much Information On Social Media. If you are going to post any information on social media about the event or your injuries, make sure it is very basic information. Do not go into any details about the event, your injuries or post any opinions about the driver, the event, or even the cab company that owned the car. Insurance companies are watching social sites for any type of information they can use to deny or reduce a claim. Because this is public information once it is posed online, they can legally use it against you.

Riding in a taxi is just a way of life in New York City. It is something that most people do without even thinking about on a daily basis. Overall, it is a safe mode of transportation, especially in such a large city, but accidents do happen. Knowing what to do if one occurs is important so that your rights are always protected.

Valerie Stout Cyrus is a freelance writer and native New Yorker. She has taken many New York taxi rides in her day and always exercises extreme caution. Valerie discovered that car accident lawyer Manhattan based attorneys have many perils to deal with when it comes to collisions in New York City. Taxi cabs add an interesting twist to the dilemma.

What to do when you have a car accident abroad

The first thing you should do after being in a car accident abroad is ensure that nobody needs urgent medical treatment and that all parties are safe and not in any immediate danger. This includes clearing the road if possible but not if it puts you in danger.

The next step would be to inform the police and get a copy of the police report. If you need an interpreter now would be the time to ask for one.

You should then:

  • Make notes about what occurred during the incident
  • Take photographs of the scene to use as evidence, this should include pictures of the vehicles, number plates, damage and positions on the road. Aswell as any potential hazards that may have contributed to the accident such as ice.
  • Ensure that you exchange insurance details
  • Get contact details of any witnesses at the scene
  • It is important that you don’t apologise or admit liability as this could be used against you in a claim

If you are travelling in europe it is important that you ensure that you understand all the rules of the road relevant for the country you are visiting.

Which insurers do I call?

If you were driving your own vehicle make sure you tell your insurance company about the accident as soon as you can even if you do not wish to make a claim. You should give your insurance company as much information about the accident as you can, this will help them to process your claim. Key things you should do before you travel abroad

  • Check your car insurance is valid abroad before you travel.
  • Ideally contact your insurer at least a month before taking your vehicle abroad
  • Many insurance companies offer third-party cover while overseas, not comprehensive cover. This could leave you out of pocket if there is damage to your vehicle

If you were driving a hire vehicle and have an accident you should report your accident to the local Police before you come back to the UK. Make sure you do not admit liability as this can affect your car hire insurance claim. At Claims Hull we would advise you to contact your hire car company as soon as possible, make sure you give them as much information as possible about the accident. Once you are home it may be a good idea to write to the hire car company with a full report of the accident.

Can I make a compensation claim in England?

In most cases you can make a claim in England for your car accident. You just have to ensure that you have reported the car accident you have been involved in to the relevant authorities abroad. You also need to make sure to retrieve any insurance and registration information from the third party involved.

Enjoy your holiday but always be road safe. Don’t drink and drive and be aware of all the relevant rules of the road you should follow in order to have a safe and happy holiday.

Winter Driving Conditions: 6 Driving Techniques To Keep You Safe

With the winter months upon us, snow will become a part of daily life for Americans across the country. If you plan on driving outside of your city to visit family or friends, following a few helpful tips will keep you safe until spring comes along. Whether you are an experienced snow driver or have just recently moved into a colder climate, staying alert and driving slowly will greatly reduce the risk of causing an accident.

Get Rid of Condensation

Cold weather brings window condensation which can hamper your ability to see.

It is recommended that all consumers use their car’s air conditioners to get rid of window condensation. Make sure the air conditioner is pointed towards the window and turned on high until you can see clearly again.

Stay Away From Black Ice

Black ice is famous for causing thousands of accidents every year around the world, and you should do everything you can to avoid it.

Black ice often looks transparent and can be easy to spot, if you know what to look for. Make sure to drive slower during snow storms and always be on the lookout for shiny areas on the road. If you think there is a patch of black ice ahead and you can’t avoid it, turn the steering wheel slightly in either direction and slowly apply the brakes.

Don’t Over Correct When You Steer

The most common reaction to loosing control over an icy part of the road is to over correct with the steering wheel. Doing this will only make the situation worse.

To help you avoid an accident as much as possible, tap the brakes slowly. While you may accidentally hit something when you lose control, you’ll minimize the damage by keeping a cool head.

Practice Braking

Braking when driving in snow is much different than braking during normal conditions.

Properly using anti-lock brakes requires the driver to do three things: Push hard on the brakes, keep your feet down, and steer the car appropriately to avoid trouble. These three things will also help during snowy conditions.

One of the key factors to successful braking is winter tires. Many brands offer tire rebates during the winter months, so be sure to purchase winter tires before the first heavy snow arrives.

Memorize the Roads

If you’ve been down the same road numerous times, make sure you know the route like the back of your hand. This will help tremendously when the snow comes because you’ll be more prepared for any hazardous conditions that you may encounter along the way.

Use Anti-Icing Fluid

Replace the standard washer fluid in your car with anti-icing fluid will help keep your windows free of ice during the night and will save you from having to remove the ice from your windshield in the morning.

Regardless of what you do to stay safe on the road during the winter season, remaining calm and staying alert is essential at all times.

Trolley Tripping: How to Ride Safely

5920163098_781993862b_n(1)Trolley Tripping: How to Ride Safely

Whether you’re out on vacation or a regular user, trolleys are a easy and fun way to get around a city. Hopping on and off allows you to be able to jump off when spot something interesting, and can even ensure you arrive even closer to your destination.
Though a great mode of transportation, trolleys also have their problems. From tripping while boarding or departing to even falling out of your seat, it’s important to keep safety top of mind while using them.

Be A Trolley Dolly: Staying Safe

Trolleys have been used as a method of getting around cities such as Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina for generations. Energy efficient and full of charm, both tourists and natives use them regularly as an efficient way to get around. However, even the most seasoned users can forget basic safety when riding the trolleys. Here’s some top tips to staying safe.

1) Be Careful When Hopping On and Off – Trolleys evoke a sense of whimsy and fun, so it’s easy to forget to watch where you’re going. Hold on to the rails provided when boarding or exiting, and be sure to watch where you’re going. Though some might be in a rush, don’t be afraid to take your time. A twisted ankle or broken leg will take more time out of your day than taking the time to be careful.

2) Wait Until the Trolley Stops - If you’re looking to either board or exit a trolley, your safest bet is to wait until it has come to a complete stop before you do. Though it’s tempting to hop on or off wherever you like, and people often do, this can be dangerous. It’s better to be patient and wait.

3) Watch Out for Other Traffic – Trolleys share the road with cars, tourist buses and even horse-drawn buggies in some tourist spots. While the conductor will do everything to ensure you have a safe exit, it’s important you look both ways before exiting to ensure you’re not putting yourself in harm’s way. Be especially vigilant in heavy tourist areas, where distractions can be high.

4) Hang On While Riding – Though trolleys are a fairly reliable and safe mode of transportation, accidents still happen. A trolley crash in Asheville, NC resulted when the brakes failed. As there were only six people riding at the time, no one was injured. In a situation such as this, failure to hold on could easily result in a fall.

What Do if the Worst Happens

Injuries on trolleys aren’t terribly common, but they do happen. If you find yourself hurt after a trolley ride from falls or an accident, it’s important to know what to do. Firstly, get a copy of your injury report from the hospital or your doctor. You will need this for any insurance claims, as well as if you wish to visit an accident attorney to discuss possible legal action.Write down your experience in full detail in a narrative style as well, so you don’t forget any important details. Additionally, be sure you make a note of any ongoing pain or suffering you may be experiencing.

Should you wish to consult an injury attorney, going local is a smart move, particularly if you’re a tourist. While you may have your own attorney at home, a local injury lawyer will be able to advise on recent cases in the city, and will also have a better knowledge of the laws. Try to find an attorney that specializes in your type of injury. For instance, in the aforementioned accident in Asheville NC, the trolley riders might have contacted a personal injury attorney Raleigh or Greenville law professional to ensure the case is handled accordingly.

Taking the trolley is something many people look forward to while on vacation, and many locals enjoy using daily. However, like any mode of transportation, there are always risks involved. By educating yourself before you even hop on, you’re going to be in for a fun – and safe – ride.

Jamica Bell is a freelance writer and avid traveler. She enjoys visiting North Carolina and is happy to know that if a Personal Injury Attorney Raleigh firm is needed while she is vacationing, she can be well prepared to resolve the issue as effectively as possible.

Caution! Apply Brakes to Cars, Lupus and Alcohol

Caution! Apply Brakes to Cars, Lupus and Alcohol

With more than 1.5 million Lupus sufferers in this country alone, it is imperative for people who suffer from this autoimmune disease, as well as those closest to them, understand the risks of mixing alcohol with Lupus medication. With upcoming holiday festivities, it’s important to remember not to over imbibe.

Lupus is a condition where your immune system gets confused and instead of attacking foreign substances in your body, it goes after your healthy cells and tissues, leading to damage to your joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, brain, and blood vessels to name a few critical things.

Symptoms of Lupus vary in people but can include fatigue, fever, joint swelling and pain, memory loss, and chest pains. Inflammation can stress your major organs. Since there is no cure for Lupus, most treatments are centered around treating the symptoms and preventing flare ups, such as reducing pain and swelling, and balancing your hormones.

Reactions From Alcohol

Many Lupus sufferers have reactions to the sulfates in wine. Others have a reaction to the gluten in beer. Symptoms include chills, diarrhea, and fevers. And alcohol also stresses the liver in Lupus patients.

Any medication, whether it be one that can be purchased over-the-counter or one that is prescribed to a patient, comes with risks that could make drinking alcohol ill advised. However, this risk could be increased substantially when the person consuming alcoholic beverages has Lupus.

Before a person thinks about consuming a beer or enjoying a glass of wine at a celebration, she would do well to understand the negative reaction that her medications could have once they are mixed with alcohol.

Pronounced Inebriation

A person who is perfectly healthy can sometimes consume alcohol and still remain somewhat in charge of her faculties. However, a person who has Lupus may not be so lucky. Because she often takes medications that contain aspirin, corticosteroids, and anti-inflammatory agents, she could suffer more pronounced inebriation, if not total incapacitation.

A Lupus patient who makes the unfortunate choice to drive after consuming alcohol also could suffer additional legal punishment if she is found to be under the influence of both medications and alcohol. The police will not give any credence to her being sick with Lupus or having to be on medication. According to one Orlando DUI lawyer, “that person will face legal punishment to the fullest extent of the law.”

Medication Rendered Ineffective

When a person with Lupus drinks alcohol, she may not realize that she could be rendering her prescribed medications useless. Alcohol could be impeding the medications’ intended effects, leaving she at risk of flare-ups and pain. If a patient wants her medications to work properly, it is vital that she avoid consuming alcohol and making it difficult for her medicines to carry out their intended duties. Once a person avoids alcohol, this Lupus patient could enjoy being free from flare-ups and pain that are commonly associated with this condition.

Along with avoiding alcohol, a Lupus sufferer could also choose simpler and more natural treatments for her conditions. Along with taking her medications, she may be advised to get plenty of rest and stay well hydrated. Resting and proper hydration can help her body avoid the pain and inflammation that are associated with her condition. Likewise, doctors urge Lupus patients to work out every day, but avoid overdoing their routines. A simple walk around the block or a short session of lifting weights could help her body heal itself from the discomfort associated with Lupus.

While more than one million people in this country suffer from Lupus, this disease does not have to control people’s lives. They can find relief from the pain, flare-ups, and swelling that make so many patients miserable by following some simple steps. Using alcohol while taking Lupus medications could lead to legal and physical disaster for these patients.

Lupus sufferers can still enjoy their holiday get togethers by avoiding alcohol. Concentrate on family and friends and camaraderie. Get into the spirit of joy by celebrating with loved ones in activities that don’t involve drinking and ring in the New Year with a substitute for the bubbly by toasting with sparkling juice.

Debbie Nguyen has many friends who have Lupus. She encourages them to keep a healthy lifestyle and abstain from alcohol. Search Orlando DUI lawyer online for information and tips on how to keep your driving record healthy.

Paul Walker – A tribute from a fan

On November 30th 2013, Paul Walker and his friend and financial adviser Roger Rodas died after the 600 HP, 2005 Porsche Carrera GT they were driving in crashed and caught fire. Walker was 40 at the time and well-loved across the world for his work in films, particularly The Fast and the Furious series.

To me, he was an inspiration. I remember when I was a kid and the first F & F came out, I loved the movie, and so did all my buddies. Everything from the neon lights to the loud paintjobs, we loved it! Then a couple of years later Need for Speed Underground (the Street racing based video game) came out, and you could name your character for the story mode. My best friend chose Vin Diesel’s character from F & F, Dominic Toretto to be his alias in the game, I chose the name of Walker’s character instead – Brian O’Conner. I even bought a Toyota Supra in the game and painted it bright orange with green highlights to make it look like Brian’s ’10 second car’ in the movie. Yeah, I was (and still am) a full-blown, one hundred percent fan boy.

There’s a video made by the F & F team celebrating Paul’s life, and it’s a real tear-jerker. It’s beautiful, and just puts thing in perspective. You can see how Paul evolves from the brash youthful undercover cop trying to figure out the difference between right and wrong in the first F & F, to the doting husband and father trying to protect his family in the latest installment of the series. Watch it here. I think I grew up with his character, and I could just relate to it, and I’m sure many across the world do, more so because he portrayed with such artistry.

Don’t get the wrong idea though, I’m not just an F & F fan boy, I watched Paul in Eight Below, and Into the Blue among others. Into the Blue is really interesting, because not many people know this, but Paul had a Degree in Marine Biology, and he was on the board of directors for the Billfish Foundation. He spent more than a week off the coast of Mexico, as part of an expedition crew trapping and lo-jacking 7 great white sharks and gathering DNA before releasing them so that their migratory patterns could be researched.

A brilliant guy then, and amazingly down to earth too, judging by what the film fraternity had to say as they paid tribute to him by the thousands. It’s just ironic how his passing came to be, isn’t it? When an actor has defined his career through one role, or one character, it’s eerie when his real life echoes his screen persona. I know, that he’s one of the many thousands that pass in car accidents in America every year so it shouldn’t be that surprising from a statistical point of view, but it is. What was even sadder was that the autopsy reports even suggest that Paul was still alive post the collision, but died from burns sustained. I think there’s a lesson to be learnt from this, all of us should know what the correct protocol to be followed is during an accident, so that we can help others when they find themselves in the place Paul was in. To that effect, go through, and memorize a list of tips on how to react after a car accident, from The Hartford. It’s imperative that we all know this, because even if we don’t meet the same, ultimate fate that Paul did, accidents are still a complicated affair.

I won’t mourn Paul too much though, instead, I’d like to remember him for who he was, and what he achieved. Actor, Marine Biologist, race car driver, and philanthropist – Paul donned many hats, and we, his fans have such a rich legacy of brilliant moments to remember him by. From the “dude, I almost had you” at the beginning of F & F 1, to the “exit strategy” in F & F 2, and his and Dom’s tuner vs muscle arguments through F & F 6. As Brian O’Conner, Paul will remain immortal, in our lives, and in the annals of the action film genre, forevermore.
